Peru Nature Photography offers one of the most important and new alternatives that Cusco has to see the majestic flight of the condors; this trip has been designed for visitors who want to see something different and attractive birding trip that integrates a series of emotions, experiences and nature in a still wild environment; everything is possible to experience in one day.
During the trip, you can appreciate the majestic Vilcabamba mountain range, such as the Humantay & Salkantay snow capes 6,271 m.a.s.l, until we reach the community of Chonta and finally we will appreciate the majestic Apurimac canyon. From where we will observe the majestic flight of the Andean condor.

We leave the city of Cusco at 4 a.m in our private van, taking the route Cusco – Limatambo, on a paved road to the branch that will lead us to the community of Chonta (3,400 m.a.s.l). On the way, we will give you our box lunch and water at all times.
From here we head through the Puna highlands and grasslands passing picturesque landscapes dominated by the deep Apurimac canyon, where we start our 2-hour slow hike until we reach the Condor viewpoint. Some of the birds we will be able to see on the way are: Golden-billed Saltator, a variety of Sierra Finches, Hooded Siskin, Hummingbirds, Canasteros, Tanagers, Pigeons, Wrens, Tyrants, Cotingas, Swallows, Thrushes, Raptors and Mammals like White tail deer, Andean fox and much more.
Here we will observe up to a dozen Andean Condors with a wingspan of 3 meters, after the leisurely watching, we will enjoy a picnic box lunch with a magnificent view of the Apurimac canyon. Finally, we’ll descend to the Limatambo valley to return to the Cusco city.

Yes, but they should be in good physical condition and comfortable with hiking at high altitudes. We recommend bringing trekking poles for extra support.
The tour can be done year-round, but the best months for birdwatching and condor activity are April to October, when the weather is drier, and visibility is better.
